USDA Distance Learning and Telemedicine Announces $44.5M Grant Program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced they are administering a USDA Distance Learning & Telemedicine Grant Program (DLT). The program helps rural communities acquire the technology and training necessary to connect educational and medical professionals with students, teachers, and patients in rural areas (populations of 20,000 or less).

The Agency encourages applicants to consider projects that promote equity and economic opportunity in rural America, specifically those that advance the containment of the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring racial equity, rebuilding our rural economy and addressing the climate crisis

Eligible applicants include state and local government entities, Federally-recognized Tribes, nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses. The Grant funds may be used for supporting the development of a telemedicine infrastructure, audio/video equipment, computer hardware and software, instructional programming and more. A minimum 15% match is required for grant-only awards.

Applications are open now and must be received by June 4, 2021.
